A few years back I had completed a project that required aerial mapping of Thailand, Hong Kong and most of China – detailed mapping, complete with digital images, data and labeling to ensure that it was accurate. After the project was over it became relatively useless, but I found that keeping it was worthwhile and kept it on hand.

You’d be surprised how often knowing detailed geographic locations in the eastern world can come in handy. Knowing these locations can help you impress possible business partners, woo Asian women, and even help understand modern news and economy. Digital mapping of another country is essentially a portal of knowledge that can be used in a variety of ways to help both my business and me personally.

Aerial photography is one of those underutilized sciences that have a variety of applications for businesses and individuals alike. The detail you can get from a simple snapshot and the data it unfolds has so many uses that it is surprising more people don’t take advantage of its availability. The methods with which one can garner this type of information are limited, and of all of them, this form of digital photography is easily the best.
