Tattoos were Dan Traeger’s passion in life. Motorcycles were his second. He’d ride from Key West, to New Orleans, to New York, and back again as often as possible to show off his newest ones. Dan was one of the most covered individuals ever to be seen. Although not the most tattooed man in the world, about 87% of his body was tattooed. There were plenty of guys nicknamed ‘Tattoo Man’, but Dan was the only one known as ‘Dan the Tattoo Man’. Several cross tattoos lined his chest and arms, and he even had one on top of his shaven head. While travelling, Dan would roar up the highway and stop wherever he could, and once he got off would dazzle people with not only his body, but his facial tattoos once his helmet was removed.

Dan started with the first of his dragon tattoos twelve years ago. Since that he has gotten 3 more, along with dozens of other designs. At 46, he didn’t mind a single one of them. When staying in New Orleans, the children down the block always wondered at him, but that’s okay. When he talks friendly to them and jokes around they are not afraid of him. Once in a while, a college camera crew will spot him and ask if he could participate in their project. Dan, despite having previously been camera shy, doesn’t mind that either.
