Staying Fit at Culinary Arts Programs
Posted by FSRP on 04/25/08 in Health
It’s all too easy to gain weight and get out of shape when you attend Culinary Arts programs. You’re surrounded by great food and the people who like to cook it nearly every minute of every day. Additionally, you’re busy with school so you don’t have the time to exercise and focus on eating healthy.
Here are some tips for staying fit during your time at cooking school:
- Eat little meals several times per day. This way you can indulge in all the great food around you without overeating.
- Drink plenty of water. This is good for you anyway and will help you keep your eating under control.
- Think about what you’re putting in your mouth. It’s tempting to snack without thinking about it but it’s not good for us. It’s not even a good way to enjoy your food which is something chefs should be concerned about. Stop and focus on the food before you eat and you’ll be more inclined to make healthy choices.
- Find a fitness buddy. Someone else in your classes must be interested in staying fit. Pair up and challenge each other to make time for regular exercise despite your busy schedules.
Even if you’re in a Professional Pastry Program, you do have the will power to control your caloric intake. You’re probably going to be around great food for the rest of your life so now is as good a time as any to develop healthy habits.
