Nutrition Bar Should Be a Supplement Not a Replacement

It’s amazing how quickly the average person has taken an interest in the nutrition bar as a health and fitness fad. Unfortunately, this rapid adoption of the trend has led to a number of misconceptions about what nutrition bars are for. Although most people realize that these are designed as a way to boost energy, many don’t realize that they aren’t to be considered a substitute for meals.
Two main problems have contributed to this misconception. First is the fact that the energy bar is often described as a "diet food". This makes people think that they can skip a meal, eat the bar instead and lose weight. This belief is compounded by the fact that nutrition bars are designed as an on-the-go food. However, it’s a food that’s supposed to be "on the go" for people who are being unusually active. (For example, 3 bar is a popular energy bar among triathletes.)
The energy bar is designed to be a supplement to the rest of your healthy diet. It should be used to gain energy when you are burning a lot of calories because of exercise. It should not be used as a way to get in some calories without eating a real meal. By properly including your energy bars in a complete diet, you can take advantage of their widespread availability without compromising your health.
