Cooking is a Lost Art
Posted by fsReview on 07/31/08 in General
Cooking seems to me to have become a lost art. With all the pre-packaged convenience foods now available, why bother trying to cook? It’s so much easier — and often cheaper — to buy prepared frozen meals and just heat them up.
I wish more people took cooking and cooking schools seriously. Perhaps what people need is to attend culinary cooking schools and learn how to cook — I honestly think most people have no idea these days how to make not only an edible meal, but a truly good meal. It used to be that little girls learned the culinary arts from their mothers, but not anymore — mommy usually works now. I know that’s not a bad thing, and I’m all about women have equal rights to a career and financial independence, but it’s sad sometimes that cooking has fallen by the wayside. For those who really still care, there are culinary arts institutes to teach them the lost art of cooking — but for everyone else, there is the freezer section in the grocery store.
