I don’t understand parents sometimes.  Isn’t it your job as a parent to do your best to keep your children out of harm’s way?

I mean, I understand the idea of trusting your children and giving them independence as they grow up, but at what point did it become acceptable to let your children own airsoft guns without proper training and supervision?

I know boys used to have bb guns, and it has been proven that they were dangerous under little supervision.  My younger son wants a Tokyo Marui handgun and I promised myself I would let him have one only under strict rules.

Some parents would just buy one of the KWA guns and hand it over to their kids without a single thought. I, however, am not such a parent. I enrolled both of my sons in safety courses for real guns. I also enrolled them in supervised combat play lessons that the Paintball arena holds. I asked their instructors to give me updates on their progression as gun handlers. After one month of training I then allowed my sons to have their combat play on our large 4 acre lot in Northern New York under my supervision. Never could I have imagined having so much fun with these things!
